Where is the program held?

The program is held Monday through Friday at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas. We will be just North of the Main Lifeguard tower in the cove.  We will have banners visible that specify BEACH KIDS.

Does my child need to be a great swimmer or take a swim test?

NO. The program is noncompetitive with the emphasis on building confidence and education. We DO NOT require a swim test.

What should my child bring each day?

They are required to wear the rashguard we hand out on the first day. This helps us recognize the kids in our program, as well as providing good protection from the sun. We also would like them to have a beach towel, bathing suit, sunscreen and a small snack. Also please bring a full water bottle.

Do they need a specific bathing suit?

There is no specific bathing suit the child needs to wear. They only need to wear the rash guard over a swim suit.

Will my child be running and swimming?

Yes, each day we will do some combination of running and swimming.  We usually do games and relays and although we encourage each child to participate it is not mandatory.

Does everyone need a rashguard?

Each participant will receive a rashguard on the first day.  Your child is required to show up each day WEARING the rashguard.  This not only helps us to identify all BEACH KIDS but also provides great protection from the sun.

What if my child loses the rashguard or has two households?

If they loose or forget the rash guard there isn’t a purchase fee. We just ask that they bring one of them back if they find it.
